I'll be home in 24
hours this is so crazy! this week was good. Lot's of departing mission things
happened. like going to the Temple with our mission President and his wife. had
lot's of meetings and now it's time to go. I love you so much. can't wait to see
you as well! and tell you about my adventures! IN PERSON!!!!
this is super crazy!!! In a blink of an eye I will be in your arms!!!!!!!!!
I will write next
Monday but it will most likely be short.
Oh and by the way, I don't think I will be coming back to
California right soon after. I guess she wont be going to the temple any
time soon. :(
So this week went so
much better! we have seen the Lord in our work many times. This week we have been working with the members
a lot more. It's been interesting. Many member have come
to us and are asking us how to share the gospel with their
friends. We realized that, that is where our focus needs to be, is helping the members be missionaries. This ward has had more people join the church
through the members friends.
I am so thankful for
the mission and the things I have been able to learn. It's price is far beyond the price of rubies. I
Love you sooooo much and can't wait to see you!
has been hard. we have had to drop some investigators and some even dropped us.
:( but on the bright side, now we have more time
to find those that are ready for the gospel. lately I feel like my head is in a
cloud. it seems to be the biggest fight of my life to get going and be
motivated. it seems like I am running up a muddy hill with all my might and get
half way up and slip back down again. I'm really tired and full of mixed
emotions. one of the high lights was talking to Dad. It was nice! I don't want
you to think that I'm done with my mission because I'm not! I love being a
missionary and I love this work I'm just torn in between two places I love. I'm
trying to take it one day at a time and love where I'm at while I'm still here.
It has just been a hard week.
bright side,on Sunday it was the primary program. It was so cute! there was also a family that
got confirmed that same day in our ward that the Elders taught! everyone is
seeing miracles in the mission. it's so great to hear about! I know this is God's work and it is
through him this work is done!
Hey this week has
been good! We were able to see Ronnette many times this week! It was really
great. she wants to learns and is so ready. We gave her the Book of Mormon and
she was so excited to read it! We talked to her about the atonement and the
power it has to help us through our struggles. She loved it a lot. Hey have you
got snow yet? This week sister Oler got sick so we were in for one of the days,
and another day we got to help out with a parade and I got some sun that
So coming back
to California seems to be up in the air. The member that is going through the
temple has not figured out the date yet. I would hope it would be some time in
the first two weeks of me being home. I'll try really hard to find out by next
week. Maybe the 14th of Dec? you can set up speaking for
whenever. She knows that I might not be able to come, but that I will
I love you
all so much and am thankful to have you in my life. Talk to you soon!
I don't really
remember what happened this week we had three exchanges and everyday just
blends together. one of the exchanges was with sister young!!!! It was fun to
be back with her for a day. so here is a story for you I was on a
exchange with sister Dunston and we were on bikes in a housing track. and as
missionaries we are to talk with everyone. so we were biking along and we
passed this man that was painting a house and the thought came- you need to talk with that man and ignored it. It's still hard for
me to talk with everyone. so we kept biking and went to the next place we were planning
on going. sister Dunston and I were in my area and I'm still finding my way
around. so somehow we ended up back by the man painting the house and the
thought came again as we were passing him. as we went passed I said Hello. and
passed him. after we passed I knew we needed to go back. so I stopped and
told sister Dunston we needed to go back. so we did and talked to him. he had broken English but knew enough to talk for a second. he had questions about the church and wants to know more! It
was so amazing how small and simple the spirit speaks to you but how great the
results are when we follow them, and how God will give us opportunities to
prove ourselves after we mess up! he wants his children to come and continues
to mark the path. I miss you all so much and can't wait to see you! I love where I'm at and I love thisgospel!
Hey SHAYLA -- WHATTTTTT! THAT
IS SO COOL! I KNEW YOU WERE GOING TO GO FOREIGN!!!!
THIS IS SO EXCITING!!! I get to see you before you go. This is
a happy day!!!!
Well my week wasn't as exciting. This week was busy but didn't feel to productive. The new area is great, a little slow but a good area, and I love my
new companion! Sister Oler is so much
fun. Sister Pendleton stayed
in Whittier. The work is kind of slow at the moment but this will
change here soon. This is the Lord's
work, things are always happening.
So this week my thoughts have been geared toward charity. Something the Lord is teaching me that I need to go deeper.
We already started to do exchanges. It was fun. I went with a sister that I came out with. It was fun to catch up. On the exchange we were biking a lot. It was nice at the first part of the day. We meet this lady, she had just come out of her door and we started talking with her.She told us that she and her family needed God more in their
life's. We told her that our message would help her and her family come
closer to God and come closer as a family. We were able to set up a time to come back and were able to say a
prayer with her and some of her kids. It was a good way to start the day. The sisters are going to be able to teach this
That is the biggest highlight of the week. It's crazy how the weeks go faster and
faster. I love the people here and I am so blessed that I get to be here
serving them! I love you all so much. Talk to you next week!
Till we write
(Shayla got a mission call to the Adriatic South Mission. She goes January 28, 2015)
Hey! This week has
been crazy!!!! I am being transferred to Cypress for the next and last 7 weeks!! My new companion's name
is Sister Oler! I am so exited she is amazing! I am still a Sister
Training Leader but just in a different area. Some weird events happened to lead up
to me getting transferred for my last transfer. But I'm excited. It felt right. So, regarding my coming home, I got my flight plans this last week. I will be flying in
to Pocatello at 11:40 am on Dec.2nd. Please bring a
coat I will be freezing! It's weird to think that this
adventure is almost over! But when one adventure
ends another begins.
So Katherine came to
church last Sunday and stayed the whole time! She also brought her kids, Calvin and Peril. They are so fun and they all loved church!!! It was sad to say bye to them. But they are in good hands and hopefully Katherine
will get baptized on Nov 16. The work is moving on and I am so thankful for
the time I had in this area. There has been so much
growth that happened in this last 2 months. The Lord has taught me more
about how I need to continually rely on him and the blessings of being
obedient! I love that we get to learn every day. I love this great work! Thank
you for everything you do and will do!
Hey, conference was super great. we got to see all sessions.
the baptism went well. Also the training on obedience. the training
gave me a lot of stress I wanted it to go well. but all is well that ends! (
I am sad to heir about Margie Carlyle I love
her so much she has always been a great example to me!
I had no Idea that Kinsey was even dating
any one! I guess that's what happens when you go on a mission. I realize that Pocatello and home is a different place than how I left it. so ya. This is the last week in this transfer so by Monday we
will know who stays and how goes. My guess is that I will be staying put and the other two will go.Sister Pendleton has
been in this area for 9 months now. It's crazy to think that I have one more
transfer before I'm done. It doesn't seem real. I
feel like this is what my life has always consisted of.
Hey so I asked about if you would be okay if I
came back to California not to soon after I get home what are your
thoughts about that? It also depends on when Shayla takes off. But I would love to hear an opinion on this.
Also I need to register for school
soon, I forgot the paper
that I had with the classes I was hoping to take so I'll just send it in the
mail. also I sent a package home did you get it?
Thanks for all the love and support! love
till we write again
Also Go See meet the Mormons it's in theaters on the 10th
of this month tell all you friends especially the nonmembers! we got to see it
early It is sooooooo goood!!!!!!
Well Hello!!! Things this week has been going really well here in this neck of the woods! The people we have been blessed to teach are
eating up the gospel. Especially the book of
Mormon!!! Mark is getting baptized this Sunday the 5th at5pm! I have never seen a more prepared person
in my life! He told us that he feels like he is finally finishing his journey! Mark studies
so much on his own, so when we meet with
him it's more of a review then anything!
So this week we had many meetings which were really good! I loved the women's conference. It was so good! One
thing I am looking forward to is when I can do more family history work!
Congratulations to Jaymon!!!!! That is so exciting. This is a choice you will never regret! I know that
this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ restored back to the earth at
this time through the prophet Joseph Smith! Because of this, we can be with our families together forever,
and have the peace to know that as
we are obedient to Gods counsel we can return and live with him again!
So, this up-coming week, the mission's president's wife,Sister Tew, asked Sister Pendleton and me and some other sisters
to give trainings (short 10-15min. lessons with commitments
at the end).Mine is on being"Exactly Obedient!"At first I was thinking that my
topic was not so fun! This topic has
been pounded in to our heads so much that as soon as some hear what
the topic is they tune out. But now I am really excited to
give it. I have been thinking
about it a lot since Friday. I am going to try it at a different view. The process it took to know how to teach this has been one of the best experiences ever. I have been keeping the Lord in the process the whole time because I want them to learn what the Lord wants them to know and apply and not what I want them to
know. As I have done this, so much inspiration has come. The main scripture is based on Hymn 270 I will go
where you want me to go!
I am so thankful and blessed that I have all of you in my life,
and Shayla now you are truly a squirrel!!!
I just want to First
say I love you! This week went super well. We have been finding like crazy. This
transfer has been full good things! We meet this man named Mark, about a month ago that was interested in knowing about the
gospel. But lived in a different ward boundaries, so we had to pass him off. Missionaries were in touch with him here and there but his
wife didn't like them coming over at all. She made one of the Elders cry! So they lost contact for a little bit then two
weeks ago he showed up to their church and told them he wanted to get baptized and knew the Book of Mormon is true. Joseph Smith is
a true Prophet. He is ready to do whatever it takes to join. He just moved into our ward boundaries so now
we get to teach him! He is one amazing person who is hungry for truth! We have been finding many that have the true
intent to know. Like this lady Kathren
when on exchanges. My companions found her and she is already
in the second book of Nephi, in the Book of Mormon. The weeks have been full of miracles and wonder.
Today we got to go to
the temple. It just gave more strength.
I love the temple so much.
I love you so much.Keep seeking the Lord in all you do and look for a tender mercy
each day. This is one great way
to build your faith!
