Ward Christmas Breakfast

Merry Christmas!  From California

We had a ward Christmas breakfast that was super fun, there were members there that we have been working with in getting them back to church. They all seemed to have a fun time, and it was super great to see them there. Something that has come to my attention the last few days is that I have not been the best at is loving those around me. it's kind of makes the work harder when you don't do that. It's even harder to do the work when you don't love your self. I know that sounds selfish but when you can see what the Lord sees in you, you can have the confidence to do his work. when you can love your self  you are able to love others more. something I have been doing when reading the Book of Mormon has been high lighting the word faith in light green and I just finished the Book of Mormon so it's time to start again but this time I will be high lighting love and charity in red. there is a chapter in preach my gospel on Christ like attributes that I have been studying along with my findings in the book of Mormon.
Sorry if any of that didn't make since.
it just doesn't  seem like Christmas. No snow :(  Well I love you all so much and talk to you later.

Blessings

My week has been good. We when out to dinner with a sister from our ward this week. We were sitting down at a table waiting for our food, the waitress that brought our food out to us saw that we were missionary's. she asked if we were Mormon and we told her that we were then she asked us if we could pray for her she had been sick for some time and was just starting to get back to work. We told that we would and she continued on with her work. After she had left Sister Bowles turned to me and said we should ask her if she would like a blessing. So the next time she came back around we told her about blessing and asked if she would like one because we know some pretty great Elders that could give that. she listened to what we had to say and kindly declined. She told us that she has good faith in the prayers.  We told her if she ever needed one she knows where to look. She thanked us and we parted ways. I love being a missionary for the Lord's church. I know that people are always watching and know that we are true followers of Christ. I love this season of the year and the spirit that comes with it. It's kind of weird to not have snow. But in a way it helps me keep my mind off of home and all the loved ones there. We had several days of rain.  That was fun.  The Lord blesses us every day and I am thankful for that! Love you all lots!

More Teaching

Andrew sounds like he is one amazing person I hope I get to meet him some day! Our week has been good. Thanksgiving was good we spent it with a family that we love lots they have two daughters out  right now on missions. after dinner we taught them the restoration. it was lots of fun. Then I taught them  the whipped cream game, where you pop the cream up in the air and try to catch it in your mouth, they thought it us the funniest thing ever. they're a great family. they are always looking out for us. another neat thing that happened was yesterday we went to go see this sister in the ward and her husband (that is not a member) to see how they were doing and if we could teach them the lesson. President Tew wants us teaching every night, if it be members, less active or investigator. He wants us teaching. so we asked them if we could and they said yes. we ended up teaching part of the lesson right then and there. lately we have been getting into some less active member homes, that people haven't seen in a while and we have been asking them if they could help us out and let us teach so we can keep up with our teaching skills and many of them have agreed. I know that our Father in Heaven loves all his children and wants to help us out how ever he can and one thing that I love that he gave to help us is the gift of knowledge and faith. these two things go hand in hand. I keep studying about faith and the great power faith brings. love you all.

Teaching

Mon, Nov 25, 2013

I'm glad you all are having fun! Sister Bowles is so much fun and a hard worker. We go home every night tired. But a good tired! Sister Bowles made this sign that we put by our door that says EXPECT MIRACLES on it that we smack on the way out the door, she calls it our game time sign. I love it so much. yesterday we had a less active come to church It was so great she is such a sweet lady and we just love her. we asked if we could teach her the lessons so we can get some practice and she agreed.

So Elder Packer from the quorum of the seventy came and talked to us. it was great he talked to us about family history and how we can us it as tool in finding people and introducing them to the church.  we have be trying to use it when talking to people. sorry it's kinda short but here are some pics. A picture is worth a thousand words! And Happy Thanksgiving!
Love you lots all of you over on the OTHER side of the states.

Dreams happen

11/18/13

Hi
Well I will be staying in the same area but will have a different companion. Her name is Sister Bowls and guess what she was also in my MTC district. It's kinda funny! thank you for Rachel's address that's great and I'm glad she and Mila's family are safe. I can't believe Amber is home where does the time go?  well the week has been good over here in HB always a perfect sunny summer day! Some really neat things happened this week. Last Monday we stopped by this lady named Cara to see how she was doing we had not been able to get a hole of her for a little bit and we know that she would be leaving for Australia soon and we wanted to see her before she left. so we got a little package together of little things to keep her kids entertained on the trip. we stopped by and she was home. Cara was so happy to see us, and really liked the gift. She told us that they were leaving the next day, then she came out side to talk to us for a little bit because there was some thing she wanted to tell us. She said that the night before we came over she had a dream and we were in it and that she could feel of Gods love all around her. But see said that she keep waking and every time she feel asleep we were in her dream. she had a look on her face that said am I crazy. we told her that we believe that God can talk to us in many way. she told us that she was taking the Book of Mormon with her because she was going to have lots of down time and will call us when she gets back in town. Then gave us a huge and we went on our way. when we walked back to the car we realized how much God has a big hand in our life's. We looked back on our day and was able to see how all the event that happened that day that allowed us to be there at the right time. we did not plan on going over there that Monday. But things happened that allowed us to be there. Because if we would have gone a day later she would have been gone and a day earlier she would have not had the dream. I know that our Father in Heaven is aware of all of us and is in control. I am so thankful to know that He is there and Loves us so much and knows what is going on in our life. He puts people in our path for a reason. I know that we have a Father in Heaven that loves us and is some one we can trust everything to. Lots of love!

Blitz

This week has been good. Halloween was quiet, and we ate taco soup. It was fun!

Some great things happened this week. So on Saturday we had a blitz, and I was with sister Turner. Our zone had a goal to contact 9 people during the blitz along with some other goals. So it was getting to the end of the blitz and time to head back to meet the other missionary's and we needed to contact 1 more person to help out our zone! We were on our way back to the car and could see the car and no one was out and about. then I turned to sister Turner and said do you have the faith that we can find one more person to talk to? She said yes and I had the faith that it would happen. So we walk on towards the car then all of the sudden a garage door opened and someone came out of the garage! It was so cool miracles happen.

Also last night we went by some people that had some potential. We had several names down to go see and none of them were slightly interested but for the second to last one. At first she was leaning towards no because she wasn't quite sure if there was a God because of things that had happened in her life. But we told her that as missionaries we could help her find out for herself. She said she would like that. She said we could come back so we set up an appointment with her, and had a prayer and went on our way. I already love Nickola she is so great. I know this gospel will bless her! I know that miracles still happen all around us. We just need to open our eyes. I have been praying to see them and they are there. I just need to look. Love you all lots!

We have had your wonderful daughter in our home several times and tonight had the opportunity to have her and her companion over for dinner. She is doing so well. She loves the gospel and even more the joys of missionary work. She always shares beautiful scriptures with us and her testimony illuminates her as she reads and shares. You should know she is happy and well. Thank you for sharing her with us.

Love Changes People

Hey,

This week has been a good week! We are out there with the people and knocking doors, and letting the members know that we are excited to be here and are loving the work. We are meeting with a lady named Katie tomorrow (she has a young family) to talk about the gospel. She just moved into the ward boundaries. Some Elders had meet with her before and now we get to teach her! There is another lady that we are starting to teach, named Cara. She is so great. I like her a lot. She feels that she has been prepared to hear what we have to say. She wants to have a relationship with God. I pray that we can help her feel of the spirit. I know the gospel can bless her and her family.

I am learning and remembering how love is so powerful. I am starting to see that some of the best member missionaries are the ones that love those around them! They share the gospel with them because they love them and want them to have the most happiness they can have. even when their friends do not except it, their friends know it's because they care for them and want the best for them.

Riding a bike is fine I just wear leggings. I did have a crash the first week in the field and have a nice scar.

We love people in to this gospel. Love has great power. President Thomas S. Monson said many times "True love can alter human lives and change human nature."  I have seen it in my life time and time again I know my life has been changed for the better because there are many people in this world that love me. Also I have a Father In Heaven that loves me and help me change each day! I love this gospel and am love'n the people.

Love you lots!!!!

Ocean View Ward Members sent a picture text.

Sister Henderson and Sister Doyle--they served in same MTC district and are now companions in the Ocean View Ward. We love them!  We took them out to dinner tonight but tell them to call when they don't have dinners. We have had missionaries in the field and they tell us how to make sure they are getting cared for. We love Elders but it is a special treat having Sisters in the ward.

Rain

Hi, sounds like things keep going on at home. This week has been good, slow but good! Transfers happened last week and both Sister Doyle and I are sticking around! Stef is about to be a missionary! That's so great! There is a girl here that gave her farewell yesterday and she is going to serve in Mexico. Different mission than Stef's, but she will be in the MTC at the same time. Her name is Sister Carr she's great! She came with us to some lessons. It rained for the first time first time since I've been here! That was fun! Something I have been learning is the power that comes from faith, to trust in the Lord that things are fine at home and to know that what I am doing is the best thing I could be doing in my life right now. I know the Lord is right there with us every step we take. He's the one that we can go to without fail. Not once has he yelled at me. He loves us and wants the best for all of us. I also love you and want the best for you. Keep on keeping on!

Conference

Conference was so great I loved every minute of it, we watched it at the church building that was different! I don't know what one was my favorite one they were all good and I came way with something great from every one! this week has been slow but good, I loved Elder Edward Dube's talk to keep looking forward. How faith always looks forward! I thought of Shon when he was saying that! Elder Bednar and Elder Holland's talk were great and different! I also loved Elders Uchtdorf's talk. Come join with us. the whole thing was great. you could and can feel that this is important we need to be a covenant keeping people and now is the time to take what we put what we have learned in to action so that we may become. We need to start now not tomorrow but today there is no better time to start then today!  Today is apart of eternity!!! The Lord needs us and loves us. As we do our best the Lord blesses us and our best become better and better! I know that this is God's church and there is no better thing I could be doing with my life right now then to serve him.  Lots of love. and I really really love you to to!

Baptism

Hi
The baptism was great! He was one happy person. Transfers are on the 8th so next week you will know if I stay or go. This week has been okay and is working on getting better! I Love the R.S. broadcast. It was great! Something I am trying to understand more of is how God is in every step of our life's and sometimes he lets things happen to us so that we can become better than we were before, and even when things happen that we don't like it doesn't mean that he has left us or that he loves us less. I am thankful for the chances I have to grow, there are many times in a day to allow yourself to change for the better. But it's our choice to take those chances to do so! I don't think I will be the same me when I go home, I get to be a better me. look out! love you all!

Baptism and tacos

Hey this week has been great.  Rich is GETTING BAPTIZED!!!  It will happen on Saturday.  We are so excited!  We are still trying to meet with Eric.  His schedule changes a lot. I am so excited to hear the broadcast.  I love this time of year! So last night, we ate at a members home and we had tacos and at this home it's a contest to see how many you can eat. I had 8. Sister Doyle had 12 !!! they were so good. The record is 19. It was Fun!  Any way Rich is excited to be baptized he knows that all of this is true and he calls the warm feeling that the spirit gives "warm fuzzies!" He is still going strong on no tobacco. He also makes some of the best cup cakes I have ever had!  Right now in my reading I am in Alma the chapters of missionary work.  These chapters have a new light to them! I read chapter 29 today.  It's where Alma says "O that I were an angel," then later says "I should be content with the things the Lord has allotted unto me!" It got me thinking about where are my desires and how can I alien them to be more in harmony with the Lord. Something I'm thinking about! I love the Lord and everything he does for me he knows how to make me the best person I can be! I know that this gospel is the restored gospel back on the earth today. I know that family's will be together forever, and am thankful to know that. Love you all!

Energy

Dear loved ones,
My week has been great. Our investigator Rich Is doing well. He knows that the things we are teaching him are true! We had the Word of Wisdom lesson with him and he quit chewing tobacco! He did it cold turkey! the last few days have been a little hard for him, but he is doing great. We give him all the love and support he needs and then some!
We are still on the lookout for people to teach. We have a lesson with a potential investigator on Tuesday, his name is Eric and he's a firefighter.  He has talked to missionary's before and asked for a book of Mormon. We called him up and he said he would like to learn more. We pray that it goes wellWe have many of the members coming out with us to lessons. It is so nice when members are there!
Something I have been learning about in my personal study's is diligence there is a lot you can learn. I love the definition in preach my gospel. Diligence is steady, consistent, earnest, and energetic effort in doing the Lord's work. I really like the energetic part! That part put a new light on diligence for me. Preach my gospel also  says when you are diligent, you find joy and satisfaction in your work. There are so many things I am learning and I am loving every second even the hard times. love you all!

Big Joker

This week has been great. I'm starting to know the area better, and the members are great, there's a family that I just love. The first time I met them the dad scared me so bad!!! It was a funny joke, and he had my hart racing. He acted like this guy that just got out of prison and he was asking me all these questions with a straight face and randomly ask me if I was nervous. After he asked me if I was nervous, I got nervous and was wondering what was going on. But right before we went in to meet them, Sister Doyle told me that the dad was a little different. She was in on the joke, but I took it like a champ and laugh it off!  They have a daughter serving in the Philippines, and one getting ready to go to Mexico. The family is great and me and the father have the same birthday.  It's cool!

So Rich, the guy we are teaching, is so awesome he just wants to learn all he can. Every lesson so far has been good.  I know that the spirit has been there every time and he is always so willing to do whatever we invite him to do. He came to church on Sunday and stayed the whole time. I am so thankful to be with Sister Doyle she is a great teacher and I am learning so much from her. She loves to teach and is teaching me how to be a better teacher. We had a zone meeting and got some training on how to find the essential doctrines that we teach and teach it. Also to ask inspired questions to help them learn themselves. The Lord is blessing us every day and gives us lot of opportunities to Learn and grow! I love this Mission and everything about it. Love you all and Pray for you!

Media Referral

HI!!!

Happy Labor day! The new area is great! We got a media referral this week. This guy, Rich, had been talking to some missionary's in Missouri and had move out here, and wanted to keep on with the discussions. We will be teaching him tonight! I'm glad to have Sister Doyle as my companion. She is so great and I just love her. She is the queen of puns. It makes me laugh! Also  she has a great testimony and loves sharing it with people and you can tell that she loves the people here! I am already learning so much from her. Heavenly Father know who needs to be in our life and when to help us grow and learn! The last few days I have been studying a Christ like attribute, the attribute of diligence. There's a great quote in Preach My Gospel, on pg. 121 it's a good one! There is so much great stuff in there even if you're not a missionary! We are so blessed to have the gospel and to have a living prophet of God back on the earth today, to help us learn and grow so that we can be the people God needs us to be! love you all!
